About Scanware
Scanware, Inc. was founded in late 1991 and incorporated in November,
1992 with the sole purpose of developing and marketing a product to
ease the burden on the trucking industry of complying with the requirements
of DOT section 395 concerning logs and hours of service rules.
Today after more than a decade, that is still our only mission.
Our first product, LogSCAN -Version 1, was put on the market in March,
1994 after more than 2 years of development and testing. Since then,
LogSCAN has changed significantly and enjoyed more than 300 installations
throughout the U.S. and Canada. By the end of 2001, more than 80,000
logs were being processed daily using the system.
Our client base spans carriers with less than 10 drivers to carriers
with more than 16,000 drivers. The product is used on stand-alone PCs
and expansive networks. Version 6 now supports Wide Area Networks as
well.
Traditionally, we have sold LogSCAN primarily by word of mouth. To
make that possible, we placed great importance on customer service and
technical support. We also have a partnership with TripPac Online (TMI)
and a close relationship with the trucking industry's leading imaging
vendor, Pegasus TransTech.
Bill Tomlinson, the President and part owner of Scanware, is also the
developer of the system. The other two owners are Don Sheehy and Jim
Koegel who are also the owners of Jones Motor Group of Spring City,
PA. The operating companies of Jones Motor Group have been the primary
Beta Testers for our LogSCAN products.
In 1998, Scanware added an outsourcing service we named EZLOG Machine.
EZLOG allows carriers to scan their logs using our scanner and software,
and then transmit the images (via Internet) to our office where all
the work is performed using LogSCAN. Driver letters and reports are
printed back in the carrier's office within 3 business days of the time
the logs were scanned and transmitted. Logs don't even have to be sorted,
they can be batch filed because you can print out the image of any log
or logs on demand. EZLOG users experience all the benefits of LogSCAN
without any of the work, staffing, or training.
In 2002, Scanware added a complete outsourcing service called Ezlog
Mail. With this service you're able to mail your logs to us for auditing.
We offer lots of options with this service and all auditing is performed
in our state of the art processing center in Spring City, PA. This service
was created for consumers who want all the work done outside of their
business, therefore reducing the number of personal required.
The newest release of LogSCAN handles Local Driver Time Sheets as well
as logs and can incorporate electronic payroll data, and, when available,
On Board Recorder data and perform a comprehensive audit regardless
of the source of the data.
Late in 2005 we introduced two new products called Ezlog Freedom and
LogScan Express, giving consumers a wide choice of products to fill
their needs.
In 2007, Scanware realized there was one sector of the market that
we needed to cover - software for individual drivers. Logscan Onboard
was created for drivers who use a laptop computer onboard their truck.
Using the program gives drivers a proactive advantage to remain in compliance
before a violation occurs. Since the program resembles their current
log and with it's simplicity, driver find it easy to use and offers
many features including a complete financial reporting program. Another
advantage for current Logscan Plus users can import the logs into their
system with no scanning or auditing required.
Scanware...log compliance for today and the future!
