October 1, 2007 Spring City, PA. Driver response at the recent Great American Trucking Show (GATS) confirms that Logscan Onboard is a hit with drivers and owner operators across the country.

Held August 27-29th in Dallas, TX, GATS was attended by, including drivers, owner operators, fleet owners and operations staff. For the three days of the show attendees came into Scanware's booth and was amazed at the simplicity and the great capabilities of the program

Many drivers commented that they would love a program in their truck that could reproduce their current paper log, but in electronic form. They were also impressed of how the program audited their hours in real time and always informed them of a pending violation, therefore preventing the violation before it happened.

Truck and bus drivers who carry a laptop computer on board with them can now use electronic means to log their trips, making compliance with over-the-road regulations easier, faster and cheaper. LogScan Onboard by Scanware, a Pennsylvania-based company. Let’s face it; the life of a trucker is chock full of pain points – and the cost of gas isn't’t the only one. Most truck and bus drivers are required by federal law to tediously track their driving activities, recording what they’re doing every 15 minutes whether they are off-duty, in the sleeper berth, driving, or doing other work. Drivers must also record their physical location each time they change from one activity to another.

Mistakes are even more time-consuming, especially if you have to start the log over. Then, after each paper log is manually completed and signed, most are gathered with other logs and sent to the driver’s carrier to be audited for violations, and to be filed in anticipation of an audit by authorities.

Easier handling
LogSCAN Onboard lets the driver make each entry with one click of the mouse and a few keystrokes. Corrections are just as simple and spelling is always correct. Plus, much of the repetitive data on each log is supplied automatically. And drivers will know right away if they are in violation of any DOT rules.

Faster, more confident, processing and auditing
Logs can be signed electronically, and sent to carrier headquarters by e-mail. Or drivers can print and mail them the old-fashioned way, if they prefer.
All logs are clearly legible making the carrier’s audit that much easier. Although not required, if the carrier uses Scanware’s auditing products, the audit is completely automatic.

Cheaper compliance
With no logs to buy and a reasonable price for a one-year license, carriers can experience significant savings for each driver that uses the software. They can also arrange a subsidy program between driver and carrier to encourage greater usage. Volume discounts are also available. LogSCAN OnBoard supports all common log forms, including those requiring carrier-defined information. All forms of Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports are supported — pre-trip, post-trip, or both. The program also tracks fuel purchases and includes a date book. Plus it allows police or inspectors to view a week’s logs at a glance.

“We’re delighted with the overwhelming positive feedback we received from attendees at GATS,” said Keith Juryea, vice president and general manager at Scanware, Inc. “Since our begining, we've always targeted our products and outsourcing services towards trucking companies. Now, we have a product designed for the driver that can easily assist them with their hours of service. Additionally, being at GATS and personally meeting all the drivers was a great experience that will help us enhance the program.”

About Scanware, Inc
Scanware was founded in 1992 to develop and market Log Auditing Software for the trucking and passenger coach industries. Its flagship product, LogSCAN Plus, has been installed for over a decade at many major trucking companies in America and Canada. LogSCAN Plus audits paper logs by electronically scanning them, and then ‘reading’ the driver’s handwriting.

Scanware also markets EZLOG Machine, which allows carriers to scan logs in their office while offloading the actual processing to Scanware. They also provide general auditing outsourcing services for carriers that only want to mail their paper logs and receive reports back.

In addition to the release of LogSCAN Onboard, Scanware is also releasing
LogSCAN Small Carrier, targeted to carriers under 25 drivers that prefer to perform the audit themselves.
